This year, 10 MGP alumni participated in the Moguls in the Making competition. Amari Torrance (MGP ’20) was on the winning Morehouse team.
“Moguls in the Making gives college students an opportunity to express their ideas creatively and be in a business setting,” Amari said. “I definitely learned a lot and give it my all.”
Latrell Stovall, another MGP Alum, placed with the Morgan State University team. MGP alumni also represented Delaware State University, Alabama State University, Hampton University, Grambling State University, Alabama A&M University, and Tennessee State University.
In its fourth year, Moguls in the Making is hosted by Ally and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. 15 teams totaling 60 students, each from an HBCU, competed over three days to pitch a business solution to a Charlotte, NC-based economic problem. Film crews from Revolt TV videoed the competition.
Demetrius Scott, MGP Alum andDirector, Corporate Citizenship at Ally Financial, worked with the Moguls in the Making.
“As an alum of MGP, it brings me great joy to see the skills developed through the program put to work at this level,” he said. “MGP students have been involved in the Moguls in the Making program since inception and each year our students continue to stand out and represent themselves, their schools, the city of Detroit, and MGP well.”
