College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program Opens New Headquarters in Midtown Detroit
DETROIT, Mich. — June 12, 2025
On a Thursday evening in Detroit, community leaders, mentors, donors, and supporters gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new headquarters of College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program (CCB | MGP) a milestone nearly 25 years in the making.
Held at the organization’s newly restored historic facility in the New Center district, the event marked a bold new chapter for the youth-serving nonprofit, long known for helping Detroit students navigate life starting with a postsecondary education.
WXYZ news anchor and award-winning journalist Carolyn Clifford emceed the evening, welcoming guests and reminding them of what this space truly represents.
“This isn’t just a building,” Clifford said. “It’s a promise, a tribute to what’s possible when people come together to invest in Detroit’s future.”
The program’s founder and CEO, Reneé Fluker, delivered heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the humble beginnings of the now rebranded College Access and Flagship Program of the parent brand College Career & Beyond, the Midnight Golf Program in 2001. What started as a way to introduce life skills and mentorship through golf has grown into a nationally recognized program serving thousands of students through college access, career preparation, and lifelong support.
“We’re not just helping students get to college anymore,” Fluker said. “We stay with them through college graduation, offering support, empowerment, and belief every step of the way. Our new home makes that commitment real.”
As part of the evening, Rainy Hamilton Jr., president of the architectural firm Hamilton Anderson, and Samuel Ashley Jr., president of construction firm Cunningham-Limp, shared remarks on transforming the historic space into a hub for learning, mentorship, and community. Their firms were instrumental in restoring the building and honoring its legacy while making way for CCB | MGP’s future.
The event also honored major sponsors whose generosity brought the project to life. Support came from organizations including Guy Hurley, Cahull, PK Contracting, Iafrate, Plante Moran, Mark Anthony Contracting, BorgWarner, Whirlpool, Enterprise Mobility, Butzel, Ajax Paving, Levy Corporation, Maibach Family Foundation, Fort Wayne Contracting, Michigan Paving & Materials, Pappas Financial, Grant Millman & Johnson, Cipparone Contracting, Corrigan Oil, Pro-Line Asphalt, Ace Cutting Equipment, Barton Malow, Alta Equipment Company, and Mammoth.
From new putting greens in the basement to college coaching rooms and gathering spaces for mentorship, the facility is designed with students at the center. As the evening ended, attendees were reminded that while the building may be new, the heart of CCB | MGP remains the same, guided by a lasting belief in the power of possibility.
