For over 20 years, College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program has helped students access college, succeed through graduation, and grow professionally. As we expand, we’ve rebranded to better reflect our full mission. While our name has changed, our commitment remains the same—empowering students through college, career, and beyond.
Who We Are
College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program is a non-profit organization that prepares Detroit’s most promising students for success in post-secondary education, and beyond.
To us, simply getting students into college isn’t enough. Graduation and career success are our goals. Our program focuses on removing the social, financial, and academic barriers that stand between students and their graduation dreams.
Since 2001, College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program has helped more than 3,000+ students get into post-secondary programs. The unique mentality of the students we work with is the real secret to our success.
We select our students based on their character makeup and whether or not they possess the drive and personality traits to overcome adversity and find success, both inside and outside the classroom.
History
The program was founded in 2001 by Reneé Fluker, a social worker and single mother who noticed the impact golf had on her son’s life—a student golfer who encouraged her to find a way to provide other young people with the opportunity to experience the game he loved and the doors he believed it had opened for him. It started as an offshoot of the safe streets initiative called Midnight Basketball. Over time, it has come to have another meaning. From its humble beginnings with 17 students meeting at Franklin-Wright Settlements—a small community center in Detroit, to learning golf skills to today with 250 students—the program is a phenomenal success. It has expanded to a 30-week curriculum that has helped hundreds of Detroit’s at-risk high school students enter college and various professional careers.
Mission, Vision and Core Values
CCB uses life training, proactive college coaching, long-term mentoring and the discipline of golf to prepare young people for independence and success at the postsecondary level and beyond.

What We Do
Our program consists of the elements young people need for success. We are invested in eliminating barriers to success for all of our students. Starting in their senior year of high school, through college graduation and into the workforce, College Career & Beyond | Midnight Golf Program provides a comprehensive support system and essential resources that allows students to thrive during this exciting time in their lives.

Mentors are the secret to our success, and the success of every student we work with at CCB. These generous role models volunteer their experience and time to prepare our students for the challenges that lie ahead. It’s one of the most direct and impactful ways to make a difference with our program.
